The Finnish Lutheran Hour is a Christian organization that has a mission to
take forward the Gospel with the help of modern communication methods. We
want to help those who have become estranged from Christ to find belief. We
work in co-operation with congregations and organizations. We are taking
the gospel to places where people are and we base our actions on the Bible
and the Lutheran Books of Confession.
We are also part of the world wide movement of Christians because
International Lutheran Hour Ministries supports it's activities with an
experience of over 80 years from the area of Christian communications.
Nowadays the radio programs of the Lutheran Hour can be heard in over 130
countries. It's first TV-program was being broadcasted on the New Year's
Day in 1948. At present the Lutheran Hour has branch offices in 53
countries.
The participation of Finland in the global movement is also about
cherishing traditions since the first Finnish-speaking programs were
transmitted to the North-American immigrants already in 1942. In the
beginning the programs of the Lutheran Hour were one hour of length. This
historical fact can still be seen in the name of the organization.
